We are pleased that you have decided to join celebrated composer/conductor, Dr. John Leavitt in a tour featuring a gala concert event in Ireland’s Fair City of Dublin, Ireland. With 1000 years of Celtic heritage that inspires her music and artistry to this day, Dublin will lay host to our festival which will culminate in a World Premier of a new work entitled, Bound for Glory, an exciting collection of American Spirituals. Also featured on the program will be John’s Celtic Prayer , his new medley from The Sound of Music, and his warm rich setting of the Irish folksong, The Salley Gardens.
As a reminder, the festival will take place May 30 – June 5, 2018
During this 6-night tour of Ireland, we will rehearse together as we prepare for two formal Gala performances with local musicians. Our first performance with be in the Church of St. Nicholas in the beautiful city of Galway.
The grand finale concert will take place in the historic and oldest medieval cathedral in Ireland, Christchurch Cathedral, in the timeless city of Dublin.
We have had many questions about proper attire for the concerts. We are suggesting everyone wear what is commonly referred to as “Concert Black” outfits. The picture below is a good example of this. We would prefer that you avoid anything too sparkly or eye-catching as it will defeat the purpose. Please no white undershirts or white socks. Also, keep in mind that it could be a little chilly in the stone cathedrals.
Sechrist Travel will be providing each singer with a T-Shirt for informal performances and other occasions when we would like the group to be easily identifiable.
As you pack your bags, please consider the average temperatures this time of year in Ireland.
Lows- Upper 40s
Highs- Lower 60s
Come prepared for some rain or drizzle, but it will be mild this time of year.
We have uploaded the following documents for your benefit. We highly encourage you to read through the tips and itinerary to get a feel for tour. We have also included rooming documents as the group will be split between two hotels during our first stop.
